Ronald McDonald House!

This past Sunday the sisters of Gamma Gamma reached out and attended not one but FOUR Ronald McDonald houses in our area. Small groups went to one in Orlando, one in Tampa, and two in St. Pete! We cooked a fun lunch of Sloppy Joe's, green beans, and chips for all of the residents. We also delivered decorative bracelets that are made for the sick children to cover their medical band so they always have something to remind them that they are loved. This is an amazing tradition that the sisters of Gamma Gamma always cherish doing!

They're Here!!

Recruitment was a huge sucess! We have seventeen beautiful new alpha members!
We had an amazing bid day at one of our sisters houses. We ate Louis Pappas and wore funny fashion items to go along with with our couture theme. Later that night they were brought through the White Alpha ceremony and today they attended their first chapter meeting!

Please Come!

It's here! Recruitment week has started and the ladies here at Gamma Gamma are very excited. As we are working towards finding our new members we'd like to share it with you. Friday is preference night and I am again extending an invitation to all of you to join us. Alumnae involvement is highly important at this event so all potential new members can experience the fact that Alpha Delta Pi lasts a lifetime. Please email me or leave a comment here by Wednesday so we can plan how many alumnae to accommodate. Thanks again ladies and I hope to be hearing from you!

Sucess!

Super Smooth was hosted and it was a huge sucess! It rained, but even through the problems students came out to support Ronald McDonald House. It was a wonderful day of barbeque, music, fun, and friends. The boys put on a great show well the winner shaved his legs. We had an attendance of 50 plus people and made a grand total of $1,358. The men and women of Florida Southern College truely stepped up and gave their money to our cause. We extended our reach of giving by bringing all of the remaining food to the local Lighthouse Ministries Shelter. It was truely a day where the women of Gamma Gamma shined their brightest and showed the true meaning of commitment to their philanthropy.

Pass It On

In response to some e-mails and comments, I would love for all Gamma Gamma alumni to receive this and my hope it that you will all pass this on. Unfortunately my resources are limited to what the alumni have updated. My lists are from FSC and ADPi national so if an e-mail address has changed and no one has been notified there is no way of contacting them. So encourage any sisters you know who aren't receiving my emails to join so I can get them back on the lists.
Thank you!Ellen

Super Smooth

*Gamma Gamma ladies ready to help at RMH*

The women of Gamma Gamma have already begun to support the Ronald McDonald house this year through an event we call "Super Smooth!" It will run from September 3- 11th . The idea is each house will nominate and pay for a man to represent them with their legs. A picture will be taken of each man's legs and placed on a jar in the cafeteria, then it will run much like penny wars where people put money in the jar for the legs they want shaved. Whomever's legs are on the jar that has the most money in it will have to come to a BBQ we are hosting on September 11th and shave their legs in a kiddy pool! This will be a fun way to raise money for RMH and we hope you will attend. Alumnae are encouraged to come to the BBQ on September 11th anywhere from 5-7 pm the entrance cost is $2 which will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. We hope to see you there!

Fraternal Caucus Asks for Support

*THIS IS WRITTEN BY ALPHA DELTA PI'S NATIONAL OFFICE*
Alpha Delta Pi is asking all collegians and alumnae to write Congress in support of the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2007 (H.R. 643/S.638). The Act would erase a long-standing disparity in the law and allow educational foundations like ours to use tax-deductible charitable contributions to make grants to our local house corporations for the purpose of improving existing not-for-profit student housing or building new housing. Passage of the Act would be a major benefit for all fraternity housing nationwide, as it would make it easier to fundraise for needed critical life safety enhancements and other infrastructure improvements needed to sustain Greek housing.
The more sponsors we have for this legislation the more likely we are to pass the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act. Senators and Representatives often sign onto legislation because their constituents contact them and ask for that support - your letters are key to our efforts.
Here's all you have to do to participate in the campaign:
1. Log onto http://www.fraternalcaucus.org/ or copy and paste the following link:
http://www.fraternalcaucus.org/
locate the "Get Involved" Tab at the Top and click on "Register with the CFC." It will take about two minutes for you to provide the campaign with some basic information Greek leaders can use later in our grassroots program to target certain demographic groups for additional contacts.
2. After registering, go to the Tab marked Legislation and click on the "Write Your Legislators"
3. Simply complete all the boxes and steps from there to automatically send an e-mail communication to both your Senators and Member of Congress. If you have a connection to other Members of Congress or Senators, you can write them as well.
The Greek world is closely tracking the number of letters sent by members of each organization and we want to be well-represented in this campaign.
Thanks for participating in this grassroots letter-writing campaign! The more Greeks who contact Congress about this bill in 2007, the more likely we are to see this bill become law. Your participation and the involvement of others is very important to our success.

Recruitment

* Bid day Fall 2006*

Things are about to gear up in the ADPi house because it is time for recruitment! As of fall 2006, Florida Southern College's Panhellenic voted to change formal recruitment to the fall. Events will be held from September 24th - 29th, Monday is values night, Wednesday is philanthropy night, and Friday is Preference night.
Preference Night holds a special value for everyone, it is a night of tears, nervous butterflies, happiness, and a true display of sisterhood. To truly show the potential new members that Alpha Delta Pi is a commitment for a lifetime we would like to include our alumnae in this event. All women who would be interested in attending this amazing night please e-mail or leave me a comment on this page. The particulars are posted in the "events" link.
